Tips + Tricks:
Hail Yellow Cabs in Manhattan and Green Cabs in Brooklyn. Or call a car service for door to door service.
(Cabs change shifts between 5 and 6 pm so you'll have a harder time hailing at this hour.)
Subways are open 24-7, but it's best not to ride them alone after midnight.
Tipping is standard on meals, at the bar and for taxi rides. 20% of the bill or $1 / drink at a bar.
A lot of shops don't like to take credit/debit cards so make sure you have plenty of cash.
Streets run East to West and Avenues run North to South (Avenues also equal 2 street blocks in length).
